View Full Version : The Infamous 'School' Thread

November 30th, 2002, 03:44 PM
Well, we had one on the old board, so we're getting one here. In this thread you can discuss everything about school.

Well I go to an alternative high school, and it rocks. Some of the people there I don't like much, but it's cool anyway. There are only two classrooms, and fifteen kids in all. It's kind of complicated to explain, but you pretty much work at your own pace, and it's very independent. We've got a lounge. :D Here's my schedule:

8:55am: School begins (Period One).
9:45am: BREAK
9:50am: Period Two.
10:40am: BREAK
10:45am: Period Three.
11:30am: LUNCH
12:10pm: Period Four
1:00pm: BREAK
1:05pm: Period Five
1:55pm: School ends.

This semester I'm working on English, Math, Geography, and Life Skills.

November 30th, 2002, 04:35 PM
We do semestering (I imagine other schools do) and my classes are in a different order every day.
But on a typical day...2 we'll say, I've got:
7:50- I leave for the bus stop. We never know if the driver will be early or late. He's supposed to come around 8:00, so I have to be ready.
Sometime around 8:20-You're right. I don't use a watch. The bus arrives at school.
9:15-Registration. The teacher makes sure we're here.
9:20- I think it's 9:20...? We leave for our first class....On day two, four, and six we have...ART first. Yay!
10:15(or 10:30?)- Recess!

Alright, I can't remember my schedual. I haven't got it with me.
But do note my new avatar! I made it myself:redsy

Gah. School needs to be individually paced in my world.

6:38 -- I grudgingly get up
7:07 -- I grudgingly walk to the bus stop
7:12 -- I grudgingly get on bus
7:21 -- I arrive at school and start either walking slowly to the classroom and sit in the hallway, or to the computer room (yay, now my time's not wasted)
7:30 -- Math class "starts"
about 8:15 -- 2 other people and I get to leave class a few minutes early to go to the bus that takes us to the middle school
8:23 -- Go to middle school, go to locker, go to library to do work for 10 minutes
8:41 -- 2nd period begins as I go to Earth Science
9:30 -- Earth Science or "Gym", depending on day
10:14 -- really annoying Orchestra or somewhat boring Justice and Supremes, depending on day
10:58 -- Home Ecc, later to be changed to Tech in Sem 2
11:42 -- French
12:24 -- Lunch, but I usually to the library instead because I usually eat lunch during Home Ecc
1:10 -- Social Studies
1:54 -- English
2:34 -- school day ends
3:10 -- I arrive home on unfairly long busride (it's short compared to Caleyin's, but I have my own reasons for considering it unfair)

4:55 - Lyrian's old Bugs Bunny alarm clock, which she uses still for no apparent reason, goes off. Lyrian turns it of and goes back to sleep.

5:00 - Lyrian's regular alarm clock goes off, Lyrian sits up, presses the snooze button, and lays down again.

5:07 - Alarm clock goes off again. Lyrian sits up.

5:08 - Lyrian gets up, does everything to get ready short of geting dressed, drags books into bedroom and does the homework she neglected to do the night before.

6:15 - Lyrian stops doing homework, or reading, and replaces it in her bookbag finished or not.

6:15-6:35 - Lyrian gets dressed, does chores, wastes time, and other various and sundry details.

6:35 - Lyrian leaves for school.

6:45/48/somewhere in there - Lyrian arrives at school, goes to her locker, exchanges books and other various whatnot.

6:55-7:45 or so - Chemistry

7:55-8:50 - Gym (Both semesters)

8:55-9:55 - Spanish

10:00-10:55 - Language Arts (with somewhat irritating teacher that I don't much care for)

11:00-11:30 - Lunch (although I usually get down there right after third period unless the teacher is a pain and keeps us after the bell).

11:35-12:30 - History, Geography second semester.

12:35-1:30 - Choir

1:35-2:30 - Geometry

2:45ish - Lyrian arrives home.

I'm glad I'm not you Lyrian. That schedule looks really stressful. I do advanced work, but I'm still a dibbun and me and my friends have recess and snack time and nap time. I learn a lot and have fun at the same time. I'm glad I don't go to a school like yours Lyrian. I can't wake up at 5 in the morning or else I'd be sleepy all day.

Rollo, my school really isn't [i]that[i] torturous... for one thing, I've always gotten up around five or so in the morning. And the only reason I have to be at school so early is because I signed up for a zero hour. And just for the record, I personally don't find it all that stressful...

December 1st, 2002, 08:05 PM
Wow, that's early! Well, by my standards, at least. My mum yells at me to get up at around 7:00am. I finally roll out of bed about twenty minutes later. School starts at 8:55am, but I'm always there around 8:35am. And I'm finished school at 1:55pm. Yes, life is good. ;)

Unfortunately, I have to go back to 'real' high school next September. I don't really mind. I'm going the best high school, where all the artsy people go. I only know one person there, but she's a grade 12, so that's a plus. And her brother might be going there next year too, so at least I'll know someone....

December 2nd, 2002, 04:17 PM
Well, you're lucky. *sigh*

I could barely get up this morning.... And I don't know how I'm going to get up earlier this week so I can meet my math teacher about my research project..... I really need to do my homework now....

<brag> Lyrian just got 100 on her math quiz, and no one else did!</brag>

You know, I've discovered that once I'm up, I'm awake... It's just the getting out of bed that I hate... although my zero hour has turned out to be one of my favorite classes.

Argh... I've had a project assigned since the middle of November, and it's due this Friday, and I've barely started on it. It's pretty big, too. My chemistry grade depends on it, practically. Bah. Anyone know anything unusual about Sir H. Davy, besides the fact that he discovered laughing gas and invented the miner's lamp or whatever? And besides the basic biography stuff? Never mind, I'll end up researching it anyway...

December 4th, 2002, 05:45 PM
well, the best link is THIS (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=Sir+H%2E+Davy)

We don't get Social studies untill theh second semester.

LOL... Dandin, your Google is in French... :D I did bookmark some good sites I found. Thanks.

December 4th, 2002, 07:15 PM
Heh, our french class is so clueless. They even have trouble listening to what words to underline, and somebody in our class thinks that pillows can listen. It's quite ridiculous, and we usually don't learn as much as we should.

And yay, math class was cancelled todayd, so I went to social studies instead because I was going to miss it for a "field trip".
