It's MEEEEP! ;)

*sees Darkhood and joins into battle* HIIIIIIIIIIYA! Okay... I have no idea what my battle cry is, though I do make weird battle-cryish noises sometimes while playing badminton...

Lyrian Aryns

Hm. I could probably be caught yelling something equivalent to "Ruuuuuuun!" in any kind of battleish situation... I'd of course be leading my small vermin band a safe distance away from the conflict, chiefly for that annoying little detail that evil is never ever allowed to win...

Glenner
December 14th, 2002, 03:10 PM
LOL, Lyrian.I know what you mean. I wonder what would happen if BJ let the baddies win for once.

Darkhood: Actually I think "Haaawmmm!!!" sounds good too.;)

MoonShadow
December 14th, 2002, 05:18 PM
Nonsense is my game. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO SEEEEEEEEEENSE!

Over the course of my life, I haven't had many battle cries. For the time being, I am taking over the world in a less noticable way. There was one battle cry, however, that I did use quite a bit around this time last year for some reason. It was:

"GREEEEEEEEEEENLAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!"

I have no idea why. As for Redwall battle cries... I suppose I'll have to stick with the original, "REDWALLLLLL!!" and of course, "Logalogalogalog!!!!!!!"

Lord Servone
December 14th, 2002, 10:14 PM
"Ekki-Ekki-Ekki-Ekki-PTANG! Zoom-Boing! Z'nourrwringmm!"

This thread is reminding me of one I started in the old forum the "Is anyone here insane?" one. Now that was a weird thread.

The battle cry that is not from Redwall and that I use a lot would be “EEKA BAKA BOO” That is what the bass section in choir would say when the choir director starts playing sopranos parts when she should be playing the bass parts. If you are talking about a battle cry from Redwall, the one that I always like but not used as much would be “TREE TOPS AND TIMBERS”

Dakota
January 2nd, 2003, 01:39 PM
I think my other battle cry would be "VIVA LA LEGOLAS!" ;)

Slagar the Cruel
January 2nd, 2003, 03:19 PM
Once again, not much of a "Bookshelf" discussion...

In any case, my battle cry is "Mehhhhhhhhhhhh!" in a very silly, vibrating way. Actually, it's not my battle cry - it's the battle cry of "the Orange", who's a little "Frozen Orange Push-up" mascot. He has a face, pipe-cleaner hair, and a hat. Long story...

Jade the Warrior
January 2nd, 2003, 05:55 PM
My battle cry, if following the old Redwall ways, would either be good ol' "REDWAALLLL!!!" or "KIILLLLLEEEEEE!!!!!".

But for my own...Heh, heh...No battle cry, just seek out and destroy...then when they're dead, you shout out "NOBEAST SHALL SLAY ME!!!!!" Then, you continue on your merry little way...

~Jade, who is glad that not all of us on this board are sane...

mmm....Shrimp and hotroot soup. You're starting to make me hungry.:)

Mine would probably be BLOOD AND VINEGAARRR!!!! Either that or EUALIIAAA!!!!

You know I found out from a "Ask Brian" thing that Eualia was actually a war cry used by Vikings, Northsmen, and Celts. It means VICTORY!!!

Hee hee, not very original but I have to say: EULALIA!!! :) I also like "Mwa ha ha ha!" for vermin characters.

MoonShadow
January 16th, 2003, 06:52 PM
Treetops and Timbers hadn't really appeared much after the first few Redwall books.... Even though it sounds a bit weird, I still think it should have been used by squirrels (or other animals ;)) at some other times as well....

chris the cynic
September 16th, 2004, 04:53 PM
Are we talking about the thing we shout to strike fear in the hearts of the enemy and make our selves look cool, or are we talking about what we yell when charging recklessly into battle?

If it’s the second mine would be, “I’m going to diiiiiie!” as I ran, otherwise quite bravely, into the battle.
If it’s the first I would probably only say it before the fighting had started, and then say it in a normal voice just loud enough for the enemy to hear. (So I guess it isn’t really a battle cry since those are shouted.) It would be, “Eulalia [word for female dog],” spoken with quiet contempt.

Grath

It's You- lay lee, er. From the man himself... really? im certain theres something in salamandastron! well, you are, quite literally, "da man", so i guess you are right.

Jodan
October 19th, 2004, 04:47 PM
It's actually pronounced "EEE-UUU-LA-LI-LA"". That's from BJ himself.

Tagg's Tattoos
October 19th, 2004, 05:29 PM
It's ACTUALLY pronounced You lay lee er (AAAHHHH, when prolonged); I've had to record it enough flippin' times, sah, with his nibs sat less than 10 feet away.
The one in Salamandastron, is Urthwhyte's ghostly wail; remember, he'd only have heard it when a cub; and he was using it to scare the questors ( I recorded that role!). That was more like a wolf howl; try it with mournful musicality, and you'll see how ghostly it can be

Ringothewarrior
October 19th, 2004, 07:10 PM
So it's really yo-lay-le-ahhhhhh, right?

Tagg's Tattoos
October 19th, 2004, 07:17 PM
Ringothewarrior So it's really yo-lay-le-ahhhhhh, right?

No, not quite; the first syllable is pronounced as in 'true','flew', 'new', or even 'phew'.
Try to picture someone like Hugh Grant saying it.

Ringothewarrior
October 19th, 2004, 07:59 PM
Ok, it's UEEEEEEE (as in true) LAYYYYYYYY-LEEEEEEEE-AHHHHHHH right?

Tagg's Tattoos
October 19th, 2004, 09:56 PM
That's it. Except for Urthwhyte's howl.
:) :) :) :)

Cheesethief
October 20th, 2004, 03:26 PM
ok, got it. so urthwhyte was wrong? thanks for clearing that up.
