...Mario!There has been a veritable avalanche of video games featuring Mario lately. Since October he's had no less than six games out, including the latest installments in the Mario Tennis, Party, and RPG series, and the remake of Super Mario 64 on the portable Nintendo DS.
Even when there are few new games being released at any one time, Nintendo frequently cashes in on the nostalgia factor: Virtually every Mario adventure console game up through SM64 has been re-released - in some cases, twice - on a different console or portable game system, with the exception of the first Mario RPG.
What's your favorite Mario title? Who's your favorite Mario character? Have any Memorable Mario Moments of days gone by? Who here hates the live-action Mario Bros. Movie? ;) Apparently it was rather awful. I saw it at an age when I didn't know the difference between a good and a bad movie. Go figure.
Special thanks to the avatar of Ringmaster, and the former avatar and signature of Lonna Bowstripe, for the idea. :D

I think my favorite Mario title has to be Mario Kart 64. It was the one game my sister could play, and we would spend hours playing it. Me and my friends, back in the day, had mastered the game. Our competitions in the game were the stuff of legend....

Most of my favorite Mario games are fairly old. Super Mario Brothers 3 was awesome, especially for its time. On the SNES, I really liked Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island - the latter of which is probably my favorite game on the SNES, ever. Well ... one of my favorites. But definitely up there.
Mario Kart is also totally fun, both on the SNES and N64.

A three way toss between Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64, and Paper Mario 1&2. I just recently got Paper Mario 2 and love it as much as the original but i've only got up to Twilight town since i got distracted by Baten Kaitos X.x

The SNES is possibly the best gaming system of all time, so I'm going with Super Mario World.

Super Mario 64 was the best. I just really liked flying around with the wing cap. I wish you could've played as Luigi though.

The only Mario game I've ever played was the original Nintendo one, whatever it was called.. you all probably know what I'm talking about. My two cousins and I used to play it together, though the older one always took Mario and made me and the younger one share Luigi and a controller that only worked half the time.

Favorite game (of all-time, incidentally): Super Mario Bros. for the NES. I like all the characters, wasn't thrilled by the movie, and have plenty of Mario collectibles Best video game creation ever. ;)

Too bad they lost funding or we could've had a sequel to the movie.

I find the whole franchise rather odd (what's the appeal of a plumber who fights mushrooms anyway?). I don't own any Nintendo systems but I still have a chance to play the various games, which I have fun with.
The movie was terrible, and not just because it was nothing like the video game. It was just a bad movie all round.
My favorite Mario game is probably one of the Mario Kart games... I could play that game for hours and never get tired of it. I never had a Super Nintendo, so my only real experience with playing Mario is with the NES games. My favorite of the three games is probably the first (I hardly played 3), though I thought it was cool in 2 how you could chose between your characters. That's the oddball of the entire series though.
My favorite character is probably Bowser. I think he's pretty cool. I also like Luigi (originally probably because he wore my favorite color). Birdo's a disturbing character and I hate Toad and I especially hate Toadette. I'm disapointed that there's no games where you can play as a goomba...but maybe thats because they have no arms?

No man. It's about tripping on drugs and hallucinating.

And they're rated E...
On my friend's PS1 game, on the back it says "Glorified Drug Use" because a guy stomps on a cigar and says "Darn It!!"

*sigh* We haven't gotten past Super Nintendo. N64 had too many buttons anyway :D
My favorite Mario game? All Stars! Such a good selection. I always liked the one where you could play as any of the characters (Princess and Toad along with Mario and Luigi). It seemed particularly trippy. Can't remember the name *shames*

That would be Super Mario Brothers 2. That one wasn't even supposed to originally be a Mario game actually (that's why its so different; IE you pick up stuff instead of squashing, all the different villains, the viles of potion, etc.) They chocked it up as being Mario's dream, if I recall correctly.
Trivia: Does anyone know what movie debuted Super Mario Brothers 3 in it? More likely: is anyone old enough to remember what movie debuted SMB3 in it?

Yes Nintendo did say that it was all Mario's dream that game's last boss was Wart

You can quasi-play as a Goomba in Paper Mario. Party member.

The Wizard. A movie that would have you believe grandpas regularly hang out at arcades betting kids on how many points they could get on Super Mario Bros. and that you could actually play a game well with the Power Glove. "It's so bad." (Rather ironic quote.)

Afraid I dunno what you mean by WYLD STALLIONZ.
With as little as I remember of The Wizard I should say I love-d the movie. Perhaps If I saw it again I'd think different. But I'm not going to waste my time. It's not like movies based on video games have EVER had a good track record.
I can't wait until I get Paper Mario 2 for Christmas.
