Does anyone know wether Martin the Warrior or MAttimeo will be available on DVD in North America anytime soon? I know Matti was released in Britain, but when will it be avaible on the other side of the pond?

No word as of yet. It's possible we'll get a Matti volume early next year, but that's nothing but speculation.

I don't want to seem mean or anything here Hisk, but I don't think that British people like being called "brits." Just a thought, I could be wrong.

Hmm. if its an offensive term then feel free to call me an husky owning igloo building inuit who lives in a log cabin in the middle of nowhere and says "Aboot" instead of about, and does not have running water/electricity or a car.
Can soemone report a bad post for me on the last post if it was offensive? say that the poster apologises. (hey, im a "polite" Canadian) What do you call a person for the UK? I know a someone from Canada is a Canadian, and someone from the US is an American, so whats someone from Britian, a Britanian? (obviously not). this has always been bothering me.
I'll look up brit on urbandictionary. If all the posts are UK bashing, ill know that isn't the answer... Ahh, here is the definition:
1. brit
An person who comes from the United Kingdom which stands as a bulwark of common law, democracy and tradition against the forces of evil. Someone who loves their country but doesn't have to get in anyones face about it. There'll always be an England! Rule Britannia!
The Brits play better football than anyone else in the world!
Insulting? definetly not.
Now, gotta go feed those huskies...

I've yet to meet a British person who's voiced displeasure at being called a "Brit" (ditto for Canadians and "Canucks"). Plus the BBC itself uses the term in advertising. Mileage may vary, but it's not a slur.

My mistake then. My dad told me that British people don't like being called brits and he lived in England for fifteen years. He left in the '70's so I guess times have changed.

Strange. It was an insult 30 years ago but isn't now? I wonder how that happened.
Anyway Rivershell, You provided my with my daily freak out yesterday, I nearly lost my head when I thought I'd accidently insulted british people and spent 10 minutes thinking of Canadian insults!

Hey, I realize how much Scottish people cant stand being classified as English, Just as Canadians cant stand being classified as Americans, so I can relate here. (And talking about relations I do have scottish ancestry, my middle name starting with a "Mc" despite my completely English last name.)

Sorry for 2 posts in a row but, getting back to the original subject, I sent an email to Nelvan on the availability of Matti, and they said to "keep your eyes peeled next year". Good news I hope.

Hey, it's worse when you tell an American person that you're from England, and they say,
"Oh, that's in London right?"
People really need to sort out their geography. London is the capital of England...
British people don't mind being called Brits, as far as I'm concerned.
As for MTW/Matti DVDS... there is still some waiting here! They are by no means available in the shops and I'm still waiting for the third volume to come out. *sigh* And I wanted it for Christmas...

Yes, Mattimeo is out in the UK - I have no idea about MTW, though. See here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002476R4/ref=pd_bxgy_img_2_cp/202-7378017-4627010).

Some people are just glaringly stupid like that. I certainly hope you don't think all Americans are that bad. ;)

They definetly aren't. I have relatives in the US of A, and they aren't ignorant by any stretch of the Imagination. To tell the truth, the kind of thing mentioned by Aleisou has only happened to me on one occassion in the 3 times ive been down south, ("Canada is democratic??") but that remark was made by a texan, so It cant really represent the American population.

OK, maybe I should make it a little more clear here. The point of my discussion was that the words of a few bad apples (it was just pure fluke and bad luck that the guy happened to be a Texan. I'm not saying they're all stupid) cannot possibly represent the entire american people. I'm actually defending Americans here, so dont get me wrong.

In Canada there's this thing called Rick Mercer's Talking too Americans, and its funny :P One of them was he told them Canada just leagalized stapler's and they believed him ;P The also asked where the Queen lived and they replied "Europe".
Hisk
December 27th, 2004, 09:18 PM
I saw that too. Apperantly Georgy W. believed that the PM was called "Jean Poutine". Anyway, the Queen does live in Europe, I don't see how that's funny. I know some British people consider themselves separate from europe, but the rest of the world shure doesn't.

This Rick Mercer goes out and asks Americans questions and the Americans that say stupid things are the ones that are shown on TV. The Americans that are actually intelligent are not shown on TV. Please, I thought you could have deduced this. This Rick Mercer does the exact thing as Jay Leno does with "Jay Walking." You guys like making fun of the United States right? Well I remember a particularly funny episode of the Conan O'Brian show when Conan went to Canada for a week. You guys got dissed by a DOG! :p

OK, it is COMPLETELY obvious that all the smart people were cut off in TTA, but it is still kind of funny to see what the dumb ones say. And the Americans seem more inclined to insult Canada than us them (if only by accident). Some of the stuff I have heard Larry King (and that ----- from Fox, forgot his name) say make me absolutely cringe, if only because of the fact that they are completely untrue. 99% of "Canadian" insults are simply untrue facts taken as the truth by the american public, (such as the "aboot" myth  )
So if you ever get angry with us Canucks dissing you Yankees, take a look at your own countrymen! We're only reacting to the decades of abuse filtering up from the south!

Not to get into a political debate, but some people (like me) respect Bush and feel sorta insulted. I know you didn't mean it as an insult, but try not to do it on this forum. Okay?

Sorry, people I get a bit carried away sometimes. it seems that I have a case of chronic jerk sindrome. Let's face it ppl I'm an sometimes. Oh well, a lack of an ability to keep my big mouth closed is one of my irrepressable (big word! ) character traits. I think it's about time this thread closed down, as it's getting ugly :( , and has become the definition of "digression". So, let's just go to another thread, put our differences aside and forget this whole thing! I really didn't mean this thread to become a political mud throwing arena (Read the Title, Ha!), nor do I intend to make any "enemies" on this forum. Sorry for any grief I caused anyone...I'm really not a nasty person, but it just happens sometimes. Yesterday was just one if those bad days.

I feel sorry for y'all. In Britain, some people go out of their way to make Americans look stupid. Has anybody ever heard of the Questionaire where they (yes, the anonymous they) asked some American ladies if knickers are worn over or under their tights, and loads of them said over.
That is utterly ridiculous. How many people do you see going around looking like Superman? What kind of people do they ask these questions?
And the heart-braking thing is, my friend Maddy believes all this stuff and thinks that Americans are stupid. *sigh*
The USA is supposed to be the richest country in the world, so how can everyone be stupid?
And that's the end of my off-topicy rant.
Hisk
December 30th, 2004, 10:03 AM
No, the US is not the richest per capita country (leuxemburg is). People in the US who are rich are very rich, but there is a larger wealth gap than in many countries (and what does wealth have to do with intellagence? what really measures than is the HDI index of a country, or general living standard, where the USA is in 8th). But please don't reply unless it has to do with MTW or Matti DVD, I dont want a re-start here.

and what does wealth have to do with intellagence?
People who are thick as two planks surely can't get a good enough job to have lots of money.
As for Matti... the front cover is strange for the second volume. It features Stryk Redkite, but she isn't in any of the episodes there.

Not necessarily. A person in a country like the US, Canada Australia or other richer nations will earn more than as someone else doing the same job in a poor country, where labour is cheaper. A garbage collecter in Toronto earn 65 000 bucks a year after all, and a newbie history proffeser at a university makes (yikes this is the kind of job I'm qualified for) a measly 18 000 dollars!
