I have guaranteed my copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. So far, each book in the series has been better than the last, and I'm sure it will be the same for this one. July 16 I have scheduled as a personal day, since for every Harry Potter book I have read it all in one sitting, and this will be no different. I can probably get through it in about 5 or 6 hours, since I'm a quick reader. It's gonna be fun.

I'm just going to buy the whole series after book 7 as a set.

I'm guaranteed a copy of the book at midnight at one of my local libraries :D

That's what I was going to do too, but I found the first 4 in hardcover at a garage sale for 2 bucks a pop, so that plan went out the window.

When you say "reserved", do you mean you got your local book shop to put one aside, or what?

I'm turning up at midnight. Not that I particularly like the books, but it means I get to run about the streets at midnight. :D Last year I was 46th in the queue, but I think I'll get there earlier this year. The first ten or so usually wait for hours in their Potter costumes, but after that, people turn up just before, so I think I might head over about 11 and get in the twenties.

EDIT: Do you get a goodie bag when you turn up at midnight? Last year, I got a doorhanger, stickers, bookmarks, and a *special* bag, which is probably selling for twenty quid on eBay right now. Anyway, do you?

Yes Harry Potter is fun and all etc.. etc... but my real reason for posting here is to ask Cheese what a quid is. I'm assuming it's an abbreviation for Scottish currency...

I'm getting mine at Wal-Mart, for about 12 dollars cheaper than full price. New books are so expensive nowadays. As good as it I'm sure it will be, I don't think it will be worth 30 bucks, which is about what you'd pay full price.

Getting mine from Amazon's online store, It'll be delivered exactly on the day it comes out and only for $18 + shipping (Like I did with the 5th book). I'm not that crazy to drive out the nearest bookstore (An hour away) and wait a couple more hours to get a book. But it's getting closer to the book's release, I'm so excited :D .

When I got Book 5 at midnight at the library 2 years ago or so, they gave out goodie bags. They had the jelly bean type things in them, I forgot what theyre called. They even had nasty flavors like earwax! Talk about disgusting.

Heh, I'm getting mine from Costco for half price. At a decent hour for once. Because, y'know, they never, ever run out.

...whee, I'm boring. :p I remember back when book four came out, I got it at midnight, stayed up past four reading till I finally fell asleep, then spent most of the morning twitching from the suspense because we had guests over and it was apparently rude to be reading when I was supposed to be fighting, er, playing with my cousin.

They had things like Jelly beans, liquorice, chocolate eggs, chocolate frogs, etc. I seem to remember that you got 3D cards witht he chocolate frogs. My sister got one in a Kid's Feast at the cinema once, and it had this picture of Harry flying, or something.

I just bought mine too. The great thing about what I did was go to Amazon.com, buy it for less than 22 dollars with shipping and handling, and get a guarantee that if the book does not arrive at my house on it's release date, I will get all my money back. :slagar

(And I'm American. :p) To be specific the term quid is another way to say pounds, but never a single pound. You have to be talking about more than one. If you said "one quid" (or "five quids") across the pond the native dwellers would know you're a tourist, and not a very bright one. :shades:

You can say "Here's a quid," but you, as Rolinko said, can't say "Five quids,".

Actually, now I think about it, you're right. Ignore me.

I reserved my when Barnes and Nobles started reserving them. Which was about the same time star wars came out. Am going to kick all those little midget kids that come for the party. God if they get in my way I am going to kick them like strong bad kick's the cheat!
