As you are all very anyalytical and well-read, I am sure that you have noticed the blatant cliches in HP. I am not saying I dislike the books; they could be a lot worse. I think it would be insteresting to see how many of the cliches in HP we can come up with. Give an example of another book/movie where this over-used idea can be found. Spoilerizing would probably be a good idea. Unless you like to live on the edge.
Here is an example:
In HP6, Dumbledore, the old-man-mentor-wise-fatherfigure to Harry, dies.
This idea is used in quite a few different stories. Star Wars' Obi Wan Kanobi comes to mind. Along with LOTR's Gandalf. .
