As you are all very anyalytical and well-read, I am sure that you have noticed the blatant cliches in HP. I am not saying I dislike the books; they could be a lot worse. I think it would be insteresting to see how many of the cliches in HP we can come up with. Give an example of another book/movie where this over-used idea can be found. Spoilerizing would probably be a good idea. Unless you like to live on the edge.

Here is an example:

In HP6, Dumbledore, the old-man-mentor-wise-fatherfigure to Harry, dies.

This idea is used in quite a few different stories. Star Wars' Obi Wan Kanobi comes to mind. Along with LOTR's Gandalf. .

You get the idea.

Not only were all those the wise old mentors, but in Harry and Luke's cases the guys that told him he was not just another orphan living with his aunt and uncle, he had magic powers.
