On the day that Redwall Season 2 is released, the Redwall Season 3 DVD is announced.

Only known information is that it will be released August 22, 2006, see second link for sourcing info.

Another Redwall Wiki exclusive. If you'd like to spread this info, why not link back?

I have 1 source (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?PID=7058423) saying it's a 2 disc set.

However Martin, Amazon says that Season 2 is only a 1 disc set, not 2 disc.

I was too tired to search for cover art last night, and I see where you got it from now. Darn you Mack! ;)

This is great news! Hopefully, it sounds like it is not certain, this means that the all of seasons 2 and 3 will be coming out on DVD in the U.S. Both seasons have my favorite episodes.

However Martin, Amazon says that Season 2 is only a 1 disc set, not 2 disc.

Amazon is not the gospel-- it's very unlikely that they'd be able to fit thirteen episodes onto a single DVD and maintain picture/sound quality. Two discs is virtually a given-- plus the price of the set is higher than the two-disc season one, unlikely if it were only one disc.

We'll see when I pick it up.

Hopefully, it sounds like it is not certain, this means that the all of seasons 2 and 3 will be coming out on DVD in the U.S.

Season 2 is out, as of today, and season 3 is out in August. Done deal.

Worth mentioning that Borders-- inventory searches, not the online/Amazon ones-- spit back Season 2 as two discs.

Hmm:confused: , as I understood you will have Martin te Warrior only in
August.. I thougt that you had this dvd long time ago-even in Russia I bought dvd with Martin 3 years ago :D

Welcome aboard, Ratty!

Nope, in this case the DVDs just came out in Russia first. Redwall didn't hit DVD shelves in the U.S. until last year and this will mark the first time Martin the Warrior is available for purchase. It's been a long and agonizing wait. ;)

Cool, a Russian guy. I have a friend that speaks Russian; it sounds so fast.

Anyway, I am SO getting Mattimeo. Really excited for it, especially since Basil's in it, and Orlando.

That's great that MtW is coming out so soon. I remember the first two Redwall books were released a whole year apart, but now all them are finally coming out.

*tears of joy* August 22, 2006. Well, not too far off from my estimate of... wait... 2006!? Only 3-4 months then... instead of a year like I predicted. Well, that's good to hear.

*looks at cover art* Hmm, not perfect (what's up with Badrang?), but Martin's pretty good. Then again, when doesn't Martin look good...

Well, at least the Mattimeo DVD is finally out. I'll probably pick that up. ...whoa, all 13 episodes? Cool...

 Maybe in Russia it looks all right as a sort of pounce pose, but it just looks goofy and exaggerated here. "Frog" is the best word for it. The mouth at first glance looks off too, but looking at your avatar, Ratty, the face is clearly inspired from it (just not drawn quite as well). Hope Cluny doesn't actually hop around like that in the TV show.

Speaking of which, where is Cluny's tail? More proof that he's a frog.

By the way, I was wondering where this picture of Martin saving Dinjer (http://www.geocities.com/queenofnort/FriendsandFoes.JPG) came from (I've seen a bigger version of it somewhere). Just thought it was a cool MtW pic, and I got my hopes up when one site had this image as a placeholder for the MtW DVD cover.

What the heck, man?!? Covers are your bread and butter. Five of the current updates on the Wiki are cover art. . . you even went back the next day to edit Season Two's cover art into the regular update. And yet you just slide S3's cover onto the actual product page with no mention on the news page, going against your established grain. . .? Why? :shades:

I'll ask, since I go crazy for screenshots and don't think there's such a thing as too many Redwall screenshots. Er, certainly not enough screenshots from Seasons 2 and 3 anyway.

Um, I'd be interested in little Martin, maybe some of... Martin's mother or grandmother or mother figure, whoever it was... oh, but as for vermin, can't get enough of Badrang or Skalrag (the fox, the one you mistakenly called Scarlag). Or Cluny from Redwall.

I liked this screenshot (http://static.diary.ru/userdir/1/3/6/2/136269/8711265.jpg) for some reason, I guess because it's close up and the rat's somehow more intimidating being seen from that angle.

Kiser took a few great screenshots from Season 3 from the final episode. If anyone's interested, once Terrouge returns, I'll provide a link to the thread that Kiser posted the screenshots in.

Ratty, thanks so much for the screenshots (even if it's taking a while to get the whole thing), and the pics on that Russian website are... well, to put it lightly, they're awesome. Not only are they original, they're great quality and look like excellent avatars. Geez, they even have Amballa (even if she looks like a he) and Celandine on there! But no Warden. Ah well, the rest more than make up for that.

My favorites:
Badrang, great pose (http://img.liveinternet.ru/images/foto/1/934913/f_1820450.jpg)

Martin's father, Luke (http://img.liveinternet.ru/images/foto/1/934913/f_1820495.jpg)
Classic picture of Martin, same one on Redwall.tv (http://img.liveinternet.ru/images/foto/1/934913/f_1820503.jpg)

Rose, side, a bit sad (http://img.liveinternet.ru/images/foto/1/934913/f_1829350.jpg)
Skalrag, great pose. I really like that yellow thing he's wearing (http://img.liveinternet.ru/images/foto/1/934913/f_1829360.jpg)
Ласки, whoever that is (Lasky? Who's that?). Great looking vermin (http://img.liveinternet.ru/images/foto/1/934913/f_1854539.jpg)

Another one of Hisk (http://img.liveinternet.ru/images/foto/1/934913/f_1869732.jpg)

It's annoying that I didn't think about saving the actual web address to Kiser's pictures. I did however save a link to the Rose video clip - which I found has now been removed.
However, I have all of Kiser's screenshots (well, the ones of Martin and Rose anyway) and the Rose video clip saved to disk, so I suppose I could upload those to somewhere, if there's nothing against that.

Borders rocks. Didn't know they sold DVDs there... I'll be sure to look out for them next time I'm there. Anyway, the discs for Season 2 look pretty cool (Basil's good in just about any picture of him). I always wondered why it looks like Cornflower's in armor on the Season 2 cover. Like Chelki said, Cornflower took Matthias' armor, doused herself in flour (or some such), and posed as the ghost of Martin the Warrior in order to scare Ironbeak and the other birds.

You need a better (or at the very least appropriate) excuse. Money has nothing to do with instinct. Pre-release, we had access to the exact same info. You blindly followed the 1 disc stats, whereas I felt the story, relied on product history, and followed my instinct that the 2 disc set was more likely. Feel the news, TBT, do not rely only on raw information. That is not the path to greatness. :p

Money doesn't enter into the equation. Honestly.

Blindly? I trusted a well-respected online retailing service. I knew given the product history that the 1 disc thing did sound a little fishy, but I trusted them. *Shrugs*

Ooo, I am excited! I was planning on getting Seasons 1 and 2 off E-Bay this summer, and I will get Season 3 as well.

Just a question, but instead of calling them Seasons 1, 2, and 3. Why not Redwall (Season 1), Mattimeo (Season 2), and Martin the Warrior (Season 3)?

Question: I've been browsing different sites where Martin the Warrior (season 3) has been posted recently for pre-order, and they all say they have subtitles and the language is Japanese. Is this the case? I found it on Amazon and a few other places. Can someone let me know?

I'd chalk that up to another miscommunication. The odds of Seasons One and Two being in English and Three being Japanese (especially since I'm not sure a Japanese dub even exists) are slim to none. FUNimation specializes in anime, most of which comes in Japanese as well as English, and it's probably just a crossed wire somewhere (same as the "Edited" tagline).

Sorry for the nearly-a-month bump (but then, the RWTV forum hasn't been responded to in a month), but I recently got Season 3 and I'm halfway through the set.

I have to say, I'm impressed. Although it got off to a rocky start and I believe some of the voices don't work well, it is surprisingly faithful to the book and the character designs are great. Quite a few times throughout I've seen real spirit poke through, like anything involving Rose's character or the beautiful landscapes (that was one reason I liked the book so much, for the variety of locations, and the backgrounds are better than I imagined they would be). I don't have many complaints with the show, and if this season's any indication of where the series was headed, then I would eagerly await a 4th season if there was going to be one.

What stands out for me most, however, is Grumm. Normally I don't like moles in the books, and in the book I didn't like Grumm. But hearing him in the TV show... wow... it's a world of difference. Not only is the mole accent mostly gone (or at least it's comprehensible enough when spoken that for all purposes it's like normal English), but his voice is amazing. Gave me a new respect for the moles. Ironically, I think the show butchered Polleekin's appearance, but can't please everyone.

Music's pretty good, the presentation for the beginning and end (including the tapestry shots) is attractive, and the many changes to make the show more suitable for children don't hurt the show much in my opinion. Or at least it hasn't greatly diminished that the source material is obviously for an older audience. Deaths are never shown, but hinted at enough, so there's no doubt as to who dies, they just never show the moment of impact. Skalrag's torture being tickled by a feather was a bit ridiculous though.

Well worth the purchase.

I am glad you enjoyed it, Folgrimeo, it sounds like you didn't get to see the show when it came on TV. I liked Rose's voice and song too, it was beautiful and the highlight of this season. I actually liked Pollekin, her reaction to Rose singing was sad. What didn't you like about her appreance, Folgrimeo?

I just didn't expect to start seeing the old characters with little moustaches or wrinkly faces. Though I'll bet had I ever seen the first season, that wouldn't be a complaint because I'd see the Abbot and several other characters like that. I'm not really a fan of how the moles look in the show (although they seem to look much the same as in the books, which I wasn't fond of either). Two seconds of seeing Grumm in action changed all that. I'm not sure what I was expecting for Polleekin, perhaps looking closer to her illustration in the book. I'll admit being a bit harsh on her, I did like her voice and I'm glad she made it into the show, it's just that when all the other character designs are so amazing I expect them at the least to look how I imagined them.

The squidjees... well... didn't like them, but I applaud the team for making them so annoying just like they were meant to be. That constant "higigigigig" like a gaggle of geese would drive me crazy. Queen Amballa was pretty good, although I mistook her for a male at first because of her appearance.

The Gawtrybe are unbelievable. I had no idea they could look so cool, and all their voices are great. I'm particularly fond of the deep red one with green and yellow feathers on his head (thanks to the dark red face paint that almost forms rings around his eyes - that's another thing I inexplicably find cute), the same one who threw Grumm I think. These evil tribal-esque squirrels are the kind of vermin I can appreciate.

The final moments, from Martin's final battle with Badrang to the end of the episode... they were perfect. No major flaws, the show was more bold in what it showed, the amazing "Flight" music played... the hauntingly beautiful song of Noonvale... and the wonderful closing line to "visit Redwall Abbey if ever you are passing". And no line about sycamores. What I considered the best part of the book was handled with respect, successfully carried over as what I thought to be the best part of the entire season. So well, in fact, that I think the TV version of this part surpasses the book part.

I really liked the series. I didn't see them on TV, but I own all three seasons. I liked Redwall okay, they did a fairly decent job, and Mattimeo was better but Martin the Warrior was excellent in my opinion. I liked the new aspect of all the songs they had in it, and they did a good job on Clogg. He is my favourite villain in the book, and they had almost all of his scenes! One thing I found slightly annoying though, was that Badrang and Cluny are the same voice actor, and especially when Badrang laughs, he sounds just like Cluny.
