Inuyasha is now my favorite anime. I just wanted to know if any watched it. If you do or did watch it, who's your favorite character and what is your favorite episode?
Favorite character: Inuyasha or Shippo.
Favorite episdoe: Inuyasha versus Sesshomaru or the one where they introduced Shippo.

Hm... I decided on Saturday that I was going to watch Inuyasha and Yu Yu H. Even though I've only watched one episode (eppy 10, or the one where Inuyasha defeats the Thunder Brothers), I loved Inuyasha!
Inuyasha will probably make it to the top spot in my favorite Animes list....
Favorite episode: Um... what can I say? I've only watched one. :\
Favorite characters: So far, same as Rollo
Yu Yu H, on the other hand... I didn't find as interesting as Inuyahsa. :\ But it was still okay.... Maybe because I have no idea what was going on, but at least I found out who this bishounen was. :\

Eh.. I prefer the manga to the series, because the series is topping 85 + episodes.
From what I have seen of the series, it's fun. Well animated and stays very true to the manga. Gripes about the dub are the voices. Inu-yasha has Ranma's voice.. so it's kinda disturbing. Kagome is very.. eh eh... I don't like her voice at all.
As for fav. characters? I like Miroku and Sesshoumaru.

of course i love inuyasha! i've only seen episodes 6,7,8,9,10 but still.
Favorite Characters: inuyasha *nods* and obviously sesshomaru *points to sig and avatar*

Yeah... Kagome's voice is very annoying.... When I started watching it, it seemed very strange to me, but then I got used to it, and it became less "strange".... Black-haired Inuyasha? I've got to see that....

Inuyasha would look so weird if he was bald. I mean, his ears are on top of his head.
I would look weird if I was bald too 'cause I'm covered in fur.
I think the voices were pretty good. Kagome's voice does get annoying at times, but it's pretty funny when she's clueless about stuff.

i want to see that too! that happens in episode 13 i've heard (3 more weeks  ) i think whenever its the new moon inuyasha turns full human. (thus black hair, no claws, no fangs, no demon powers, extremly week and he has human ears eeep!)

Well, I couldn't view the link you provided, so I looked for a picture of him elsewhere (I did see a very small picture of him as a human, but he looked like a girl in it because it was so small :\).
In case anybody else wants to see a picture of him, then here's the link to it...

There's a lot of Ranma and Inuyasha connections as well.... Between their personalities, and also between other characters...

November 6th, 2002, 09:49 PM
Well, the creator of Inu-yasha also made Ranma 1/2. Rumiko Takahashi's Inu-yasha is 100x more serious than Ranma and the plotline is much, much more devloped. I really love her works... they're all amusing (Inu-yasha is more serious, but still feels light) and I like her style.
It's a very well defined style. If I see it, I can name it..

Yeah, I found the end to last week's episode extremely amusing.... "Don't leave me!"

November 8th, 2002, 10:22 PM
There was manga long before '78. Manga just means "comic book" in Japan (encompassing foreign comics, too). It only means "Japanese comic book" in North America (same with anime).

I taped Inuyasha last night too. That episode was great. The flesh eating Noh Mask was cool, but it started looking like a big blob of poo after it absorbed all those people. The beginning was funny because Inuyasha was carrying that big rock and Kagome kept on giving the sit command.
I don't watch Yu yu hakusho anymore 'cause it got really old and boring. I think my short attention span is kicking in again...

*feels bad for Inuyasha*
Ouch, that boulder really must have hurt, even for a demon...
I stayed up and watched it. *feels special* My mom made me go back up right when the commercial break was over and Inuyasha was starting again, but then I complained and she let me finish watching it.
The Noh mask was freaky-looking... I just hated how it looked! The episode was cool and I liked it, but it was the Noh mask that I hated. Inuyasha and Kagome amuse me greatly....
And I gave Yu Yu Hakusho another chance today, and it was a bit better than the last episode.... Maybe it's just not my taste.... Well, but I can't help watch it for whatever reason...

I was watching Saving Private Ryan on ABC on Saturday too. I only saw the last hour and a half because I was watching Black Knight on HBO before that. Saving Private Ryan is a cool movie. I felt so sorry for the guy when he tried to put the sticky bomb on the tank, but then it exploded and so did the guy. The battle at the bridge was pretty cool. I wanted to see D-Day, but me and my family were too busy watching Black Knight which is a funny movie.
The flesh that the Noh Mask distentigrated didn't really look like flesh. It looked more like poo or mud. I didn't like the part when Sota told Inuyasha who his hero was. It was so corny. But Inuyasha did sigh and roll his eyes. Still, it was a great episode.

November 11th, 2002, 05:37 PM
Well, as I said before... Inuyasha and Kagome (and a lot of other characters) amuse me.
It was pretty funny when Kagome was sort of "dreaming" about how her ideal guy would be the exact opposite of Inuyasha. lol
It was funny when Kagome kept shouting "Sit! Sit! Sit! Sit! Sit!" and you get the idea. "Stay dog!"
Yes.... the Noh mask's body didn't look like flesh because it had rotted.

LOL Beelzy! (Can I call you that? ;))
Now... where did you find that! *goes to site* Now where can you find that manga! I managed to find a store with a lot of mangas that were translated into Chinese... but the problem was that the only ones I could recognize were Shaman King and Naruto, since their art is unique, and One Piece, because it said "One Piece" on it in English for some reason...
Well... it's sort of hard to recognize anything, since there're so many mangas there that I never heard of, seen, or imaged.... And plus, I can't really read unsimplified (or whatever you call Taiwanese Chinese) Chinese too well, but then, I can't read simplified fluently either... And there were so many Sakura look-alikes!
And they were sold out of YGO :( (they only have like one copy of each volume I think....)
And I couldn't find Inuyasha :( Or Card Captor Sakura :( Or basically anything besides those three mentioned before. :(
Well, you've just gave me another site to explore....
Wow! Inuyasha will be playing 4 times a week starting 1/13/03!!!! :D No more waiting for 2 years for the whole series to air! *dances*

Yeah, what a cheerful episode with a vengeful ghost of a young girl, but it was still good. (And I was crying too :\)
My mom told me today that I can't stay up that late to watch Inuyasha anymore, and I should tape it instead. I do tape it, but Inuyasha is just the perfect ending to a day! *sigh* Oh well. I'm finally beginning to really enjoy Yu Yu Harusho and also taped some other stuff off of Adult Swim.
I found Gundam 0083 BORING (and the boy with short shorts looked very, very wrong), and I sort of lost my patience with Mobile Suit Gundam because it didn't even look like an Anime, I didn't understand what was going on, and also because I Gundam 0083 was boring.

Are you sure that's 0083? Sounds more like 0080 (which is my favorite Gundam). 0083, in any case, is best described as the "Top Gun" of Gundams-- low on plot, big on mecha battles. It's a nice character study, actually, if cliche at times.

Right now, I hate Gundam. I can't stand all those story lines and characters. Some of the gundams also look the same in most of the series that I have seen. I like Mechs better because they seem more realistic. They also have cooler missiles, chain guns, machine guns, lasers, etc.

Well, I've never seen Gundam 0083, so I can't defend it or criticize it. I like Gundam 0080, which I think you're referring to, but I can kind of understand why you wouldn't like it.
Messing with Mobile Suit Gundam is where I draw the line! ;)
I sort of lost my patience with Mobile Suit Gundam because it didn't even look like an Anime,For a show that's 23 years old, I'd say it's animation has held up pretty well. :) I didn't understand what was going on,It's probably because you just walked in during the middle of it... MSG has a very deep and intricate storyline. and also because I Gundam 0083 was boring.Boring? I wouldn't call it "boring". It's just about more than people in Gundams smashing other robots. Mobile Suit Gundam was the first "Japanese giant robot show" that didn't use the robots as unbeatable, transforming super-heroes. Mobile Suit Gundam used robots (or Mobile Suits, as the case may be) as mass-produced weapons for a dark war. In addition to this, Mobile Suit Gundam was grounded in reality - both scientifically (well, basically... the Newtypes especially were beginning to push it) and psychologically - the bad guys all had reasonable motivations, and even the good guys could be real jerks at times. *coughcough*KAI*coughcough*
Anyways, did anyone hear about Gundam Seed? I don't know much about it... except that it's CG...

I can't stand all those story lines and characters.
Having a story and characters is bad? ;)
Some of the gundams also look the same in most of the series that I have seen.
That is largely intentional, as each subsequent series has a new take on the original Gundam. The Alexander from 0080, GP01-03 from 0083, infantry units from 08th MS Team, the Shining Gundam from G-Gundam, and both Wing Gundam and Wing Zero from Gundam Wing were all based off of the original. And you'd be able to identify more for all the other Gundam series. It's a homage to their roots.
I like Mechs better because they seem more realistic. They also have cooler missiles, chain guns, machine guns, lasers, etc.

Well, I was in a bit of a bad mood when I was watching it, since my whole weekend was just swallowed up by LISFA and I also wasn't ahead in my schoolwork, since tiredness was taking over me. Well, I did just walk into the two shows right in the middle of the series, like I do with most shows (with maybe the exception of YGO where I happened to see the first eppy first), which can get rather frustrating sometimes, especially if it's a show with 100+ eppies and only shows once a week (well, I'm exaggerating a bit since I really don't know any shows like that except Inuyasha and it's going to air more often in 2003).
And I'm sure it's Gundam 0083. Very sure.
Gundam Seed... heard of it. Can give a link to it as well, though I hadn't really looked into it....

Just so you know, the US run of Mobile Suit Gundam is 42 episodes. If you'd like to see the full story in a less-amount of time, they've been compressed into three two-hour movies available on both video and DVD (the DVD's are subtitled only, though).
And I'm sure it's Gundam 0083. Very sure.
That's odd, then, as I'm having a tough time remembering any kids in that series, let alone ones in "short-shorts". 0080's main character, however, is a boy named Al who wears "short-shorts". So... confusing. Try watching 0083 from the beginning, as it's largely a "chase" series to recover the treaty-violating, nuclear-capable Gundam GP02 from rebel Zeon forces. Great mecha fights (mechanical designs by Shoji Kawamori, I believe... who also did designs for Macross, Escaflowne, and Cowboy Bebop). It's only 13 episodes, afterall.

I'll look more into the series by researching it a bit online, but that will probably do me more harm in making me Anime-obsessed.

And another note: Well, I guess either there was a really bad mess-up with Adult Swim, or I was just wrong, because I just went onto the Adult Swim site and it said "Gundam 0080". But I do remember seeing "Gundam 0083" in TV Guide..... Maybe I saw the first eppy of Gundam 0080 last Saturday, just when they finished airing "Gundam 0083".
Anyway, I did watch the whole Mobile Suit Gundam episode today, and once I started watching it, it was a lot better and more enjoyable, though I was so used to the "Mobile Trait System" idea from G Gundam that it was a bit weird for me to see how the gundam in that episode was piloted....

Ironically, I haven't even come close to seeing as much as a few of my friends. ;)
And... while I'm basically stuck with what's available on the television.
I remember those days well (we didn't have Adult "Hardly Edited" Swim, either). Somewhere along the way things changed without my really noticing, to the point where the only broadcast anime I'll watch these days is either when they have a new Gundam series on or when DB/DBZ have a new season running. Hang in there.
All of those mangas and Animes out there.....
If you're looking for a small start, I'd recommend Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind by Hayao Miyazaki, collected into four volumes.

Entirely probable. Stick with it. 0080 is a measly six episodes, making it pretty easy to see in full (note that, despite it's short run, it's my favorite Gundam... quite a feat). It's not an action oriented series, it's a character oriented series. Things will build up towards the finale, which is one of the most emotional endings to a series that I've ever seen.

Well, Gundam 0080 probably will end just at the time when Adult Swim is changing its schedule, so I guess I'll have to make another modification to my full VCR recording schedule.... Well, it seems to have an interesting plot.... Oh great, now Gundam's official site seems to be having server problems again....
Aren't there new episodes showing on Cartoon Network for DBZ, or have you already watched them through DVDs or some other way?
If you're looking for a small start, I'd recommend Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind by Hayao Miyazaki, collected into four volumes. Ooh... shall I somehow get my hands on the "horribly mangled" English version, or shall I wait for the Disney it release it's subtitled version, or shall I learn how to understand Cantonese, or at least by able to read Chinese subtitles fluently. :\ Or maybe I should at least try to get my hands on the manga, as I just realized that was what you were referring to (I think). Okay... a trip to the bookstore is very necessary.
Well, it seems fairly interesting, though I don't why it keeps reminding me of The Odyssey (probably because they mentioned that Nausicaa was a name taken from the story). :\ It seems to have a strange, but interesting plot....
Gah! There's so much stuff on this webpage about Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind and so much other stuff! Ooh, and I can finally start an Anime-movies-that-I-watched list now that I remember that the movie "My Neighbor Totoro" and I have it! Somewhere.... Wonder how we managed to get it.... And I wonder how I never really made the simple connection that it was an Anime....

Well, I was referring to the manga, so just going out to Barnes & Noble or Borders and buying it there would be fine. ;) The movie, as I understand it, was made a decade before the manga concluded, so you get a rather compressed version of the story (which is excellent). With regards to the movie, though, I'd personally recommend waiting for the Disney release, as they finally seem to be moving forward with many of them. Pick up Princess Mononoke in the meantime, though (assuming you haven't already).
Rollo
Only if you don't have the patience to pay attention to things like that.
That would be a problem with the person, though, Rollo, not the show. Without a story and characters, you'd just be staring at an unmoving landscape.

Of all the things cartoon network could edit it would have been that scene with kikyo's nudity. Oh well, sometimes i think the only thing they edit is that the people are speaking english instead of japanese. Very good episode though, inuyasha almost kissed kagome lol :b

Well.... I watch basically every show on the Saturday Adult except for Cowboy Bebop (content, you know :\).
Okay... now I'm annoyed.... I loved YYH, despite how I didn't like the first eppy I watched.... And they're going to take it away later? And the manga's great too! I even spent some time yesterday at New Jersey drawing Botan and the little boy Yusuke saved...
They're taking Outlaw Star off air starting next week.... Ugh! Well, at least there's two Inuyasha eppies....
So... what am I supposed to write for the Adult Swim petition? Complain about what they're going to do to the lineup?
Well, I was surprised that Kikyou's (did they change the spelling of her name for the dub?) revival was so early in the series.... For some reason, I thought it would occur somewhere around the 80th episode... :\
But still... the eppy was very strange... The demon especially... I can't believe I thought the demon was Kikyou's sister taken under control by someone last week!
Well, this is ADULT Swim, so they could have Kikyou practically naked....

Hmm.. personally.. it didn't bother me one bit, but I'm 16 and saw Cowboy Bebop back when I was 14 uncut, subbed from a friend.
Just curious. I don't think Cowboy Bebop is all that bad.. once again though, this is on a personal level.

Ahh.. you know, now that I think about it, maybe it's better that you do wait. Cowboy Bebop is heavy on violence, now that I REALLY think about it. Faye Valentine is quite the revealing lady, might I add.

The demon's scythe was so cool. I want a scythe like that so I can cut trees to build a fire. Buy my parents won't let me 'cause they would say that I'm too little to light a fire and even if I wasn't, I could just use some sticks that are lying around in the abbey. I'm glad I'm not old enough to do the yard work.

Then you having nothing to lose if you just like inuyasha and cowboy bebop. But i like inuyasha, cowboy bebop, and yuyu hakasu. I'd would be better if their was one hour of inuyasha and then a episode of cowboy bebop following yuyu hakasu.
And another thing, i don't remotely see a resemblance between kagome and kikyo...when everyones saying kagomes her double. Maybe its just me.

I have to respectfully disagree on that point. Teenagers and children, no matter their maturity, should not be the final judges of what they can and cannot "handle" as far as TV shows and movies are concerned. That's a responsibility of the parent, one which should not be shirked.
As for your specific case, though, it's heartening to see someone is willing to turn off the TV when they think something crosses the line. I'm also glad to hear your mom is okay with the shows. It's a rare sight, indeed.

I agree with you completely that parents should have the final say in television, though I was sort of referring to something a bit different, but it just seems stupid to me now. :\
So far, something "crossing the line" only happened once during YuYu Hakusho (probably why I hated it so much at first), though I was strongly tempted to fast-foward in the last episode of Inuyasha. And just as a note to anybody who watches Inuyasha, the second episode of Inuyasha next week will most likely contain nudity again. What's up with these people....

Probably the freakiest Anime I ever saw was this one I saw in China, with this three-eyed (bald) boy, and it was very weird. Very very very very weird. Forgot his name, and I vaguely remember the theme song, but I remember parts of the serie quite well. Basically, the boy had his third eye covered up by two pieces of tape most of the time, and behaved like a normal kid, but once his third eye was uncovered, he'd become a totally different person--something like a superhero or something... Sort of forgot. :\ Hm... I also remember this one with these vegetables and stuff as the superheros.... Those two probably won't be coming to America. Won't appeal very much to the people here, I'm guessing.
I wonder how Inuyasha hung upside down from the tree?Demons should be able to defy gravity. ;) He probably is hanging from his feet somehow.

The two episodes last night rocked! The 1st episode was so touching in a strange way kikyo coming back to life......the living death *dramatic drum roll* They each think the other betrayed them and inuyasha wanted to be full human so he could be with kikyo..........and kikyo falling ................{errrrrrr}...........Inuyasha saying "How Did This Happen"
The second episode was 2 times better, it was hilarious! That monk character just cracked me up! hehehehehe all pursing women and beating upon kagome.............and the hole in his hand. And inuyasha finds out that kikyo didn't betray him and he didn't betray her. That bad guy.........waz hiz name demon that can transform into anything transformed into a identical inuyasha and probably was the one that killed kikyo. I loved when the camera went upwards at the end and Kagome tells Inuyasha he needs to be more gentle and you hear Miroku say "Like This" and Kagome shreaks and you hear her slap him! I was laughing so hard!

It appears that they edited out the worst of the Kagome naked parts, which was good. I found the end really funny, especially Inuyasha's funny facial expressions, and Kagome saying "You like dead girls." or something like that. Heh.
Yeah, they probably will have the whole first season on DVD eventually, because they have 4 seasons of Ranma 1/2 on DVD right now. And BTW rollo, Inuyasha DVDs are avaliable now, but to which episode, I don't know, but it probably won't be up to this eppy.
Anyway, does anybody know whether they're going to start from the beginning of the series again in January when the airing times change?

Rob Schneider was a wealthy wall street executive who seemed to have it all.

Inuyasha is a somewhat famous half-demon who seemed to have it all.
Until one day he turned into a human.
Inuyasha: "Oh my gosh. I'm a human."
Now Inuyasha finds out that it's not easy being a human.

And I really need to find out what happens eppies 1-9. :\
I haven't seen episodes 1-5 :( I might buy them on dvd when i get the money.
Episode 6: (my very first episode of inuyasha :P) Alls i renember is kagome is chained to the ground and inuyasha rescues what seems to be "his mother" back from the dead and they talk to each other for a bit. Then the "mother" asks where his dads grave is....then it gets freakier as inuyasha actually *sinks* inside of the mother. Kagome frees herself and the flea says thats not his mother (theres no reflection in the water nearby) Kagome cries out to inuyasha and he realizes its a fake...but he tells before "Its In A Black Pearl" ...Sesshomaru walks up to inuyasha and takes out one of inuyashas eyes and puts it in the toad thingeys staff and a portal to inu and sess's fathers grave. They all go in and sesshomaru walks into his fathers skeleton and there is tetsiaga embeded into his mouth. Sesshomaru tries to pull it out but can't (because hes full demon). Inuyasha tries to pull it out too but can't either. Sesshomaru then tries to kill inuyasha with his evil green hands....hes about to finish inuyasha off when kagome accidently pulls out tetsiga...the episode ends there
Episode 7: Sesshomaru walks over to kagome and uses his deadly claws to melt kagome into slimy goopy stuff. Inuyasha gets mad and starts trying to kill sesshomaru again. In the midist kagome rushes out of the molten goop holding tetsiga, she points the sword out and says "You Tried to Kill Me Didn't You!" :p Kagome gives the sword to inuyasha, sesshomaru turns into a evil looking dog but inuyasha makes tetsiaga transform and he slashes off sesshomaru's right paw. Sesshomaru then turns into a blue ball and leaves. Episode ends
Episode 8: Kagome is in a pond (she has a swimming suit on) Inuyasha notices something stealing kagomes backpack and runs after it. It turns out to be a little monkey, it brings it to this guy and he opens the bag and pulls out kagomes bra. Kagome and Inuyasha see him and stuff. They go to this house and the guy rushes in looking for the princess (he likes her), the prince then comes wearing bandages. Inuyasha rips the bandages off reviling a toad demon possessing the prince with a jewel shard incrusted. The toad demon makes off with the princess...he wants to devour her. He goes into a room full of young maidens waiting to be eaten too. The guy says not to slay the prince to inuyasha, kagome comes up with a idea and grabs a small torch , says sit boy so he gets out of the way, grabs some hairspray and sprays it over the torch creating a flame thrower at the prince...the toad demon stops possessing the prince and inuyasha slays it rewarding him with a jewel shard. Prince and princess hug each other to much of the poor guys disappointment. ....End of Episode
Episode 9: Inuyasha is eating noodles sitting on a battlefeild full of corpses with kagome. A pink bubble appears, inuyasha pops it and shippo makes his first appearance. He tells him that the thunder brothers had slayed his father and that he seeks revenge. Also that they each have a fragment of the jewel. Inuyasha punches shippo a couple more times so shippo puts a weight on inuyasha so he can't move. One of the thunder brothers arrive and steal the collected shards from kagome and steals kagome herself. ........yada yada yada end of episode.
episodes 1-9 are availiabe on dvd right now but all together cost 60 freakin bucks

Tsk, tsk. Not a news channel among them. Get Fox News on that list!
I've heard that it generally and slightly lifts your mood to not watch the news because almost all they ever show is bad stuff. Even when they show who wins the lottery, I get sad and discouraged and lazy because I didn't win the lottery. :P
And things like Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck getting married, I really don't care about, because they're people I never did know and never will know. And I don't care how much money this-and-that movie made either. Et cetera.

The news is too depressing. Starvation here, war there, robbery over there, boring new "action" movies. *Sigh*
Don't mind my asking, but what is Inuyasha? Whenever I see pictures of him he has cat ears, and I'm confused.
Baby Rollo
December 16th, 2002, 06:28 PM
Inuyasha has dog ears, though they do look like a cat's.
And Beez, you said the line all wrong. It goes like this:
Mirokou: "I don't think the Princess is still safe. We have to share the same room, with the same bedding--"
Inuyasha: "Hey Mirokou, I bet you want to search her robes next."
It's not exactly like that. But it's close enough.
I don't see the news as depressing. I see it more as a wake-up call on the world. 40,000 kids die every day because people just don't care enough about them. If the government spent all the money they spend one day on the military--just one day, then they would have helped those kids for the next 10 years. Why can't the government just forget about homeland security and Iraq for a day and just help out people who are already in trouble.
Cale Yin
December 16th, 2002, 06:58 PM
But I hear about local murders and violence way, way more often than kids starving. Rollo, DOGS and CATS are starving RIGHT NOW in your very own town, at the animal shelter, or on the street. Well, the ones in the shelters aren't starving but they could be a whole lot better off. I never see starving kids in my town. People are so much more willing to give kids food and charity just because they're human. What about the animals, who know nothing of sin and wrong and time? They are so completely innocent. They're misunderstood by so many people. And not many people want to give to animals. The kids are taken care of eventually, and find a way when they are old enough to make a living for themselves. Animals depend on humans their whole lives unless they're street-smart. People have more compassion for children whose parents don't want them anymore than for animals whose owners don't want them anymore but animals never grow up and get a job. Animals are always at our mercy. I don't see why people aren't more concerned about starving animals than they are. I guess because children are humans, and our own species, we are and should be more concerned with taking care of them, but you know what they will grow up to be. They'll take what they've grown up with, all the violence and bad things that were stuck in their minds from birth, and breed more bad things. Animals are never going to do that.

heh that stinks
the first episode was called "Go Back To Your Own Time Kagome"
The arrow missed sesshomaru by far, inuyasha continues fighting while the poison in miroku is getting to him, he starts having breathing problems. Inuyasha tells kagome to give miroku the antidote and thanks her for stopping the tetsiaga from transforming. Kagome hurridly throughs the antidote to shippo and draws another arrow. Sesshomaru swings the sword again at kagome to kill her but inuyasha steps infront of her receiving full blow. Sesshomaru punches inuyasha in the face creating a major cut in his face. Miroku gets a little better so inuyasha tells him to take the now unconcious kagome and runaway as far as they can. Inuyasha bites sesshomaru's hand with the shard in it to stall time as they run away but sesshomaru pushes his hand through inuyashas stomoch creating a big hole that starts bleeding uncontrollably. Kagome regains conciousness and sees inuyasha suffering and struggles out of miroku's hands, draws an arrow and it cuts of his hand making him not able to wield tetsiga. Inuyasha grabs tetsiaga but is so wounded he cannot hold it up, he holds it to the ground and goes unconcious. The toad thing runs to inuyasha but tetsiaga zaps him. Sesshomaru seeing that is useless right now to regain tetsiga goes away. Kagome runs up to inuyasha who is now leaning against tetsiga (not awake), he falls down into a pool of his own blood and groans. Miroku's racoon friend gives them all a ride back to the village because inuyasha said he wishes to go home. There inuyasha regains concious and stagers unskillfully onto his feat. He tells kagome to follow him, miroku and shippo follow but inuyasha beats them off and tells them only kagome. He walks to the well and hugs kagome and tells her that he is afraid that hes going to lose her, that its getting too dangerous. He steals the jewel shards from her and pushes her into the well. Kagome is mad at inuyasha as she stumbles into her own time and tries to go back but can't..she realises she can't go back because she doesn't have the jewel shards anymore.
Second Episode:
Inuyasha pushes a tree into the well blocking it, shippo stays by the well and wishes that kagome could come back. Kiade (wrong spelling...ack) tries to heal the hole in inuyasha, bandaging it up when this wolf demon attacks shippo. Inuyasha rushes out and tries to kill it but is still to weak to fight much. Miroku does his wind tunnel and is about to suck the wolf in when he runs away. Meanwhile kagome is back at school and stuff and she begins wondering if she will ever get back to the past, it has been 3 days.
Kiada tells inuyasha that it niracu was probably trying to make kikyo posion the shikon jewel so it would become more powerful and evil. Bla bla bla....a bunh of stuff that i really can't explain.......niracu embeds a fragment of the shikon jewel in the wolf demon that was seen earlier and he gets bigger and meaner looking. Niracu tells him to go kill inuyasha. Inuyasha is now stuck in a shack because these inscription things are sealed around it keeping all demons in. Shippo is in there too ...inuyasha tries to get out and seek out niracu...he turns around and sees kagome but she has a fox tail, he hits her and shippo goes back to his orignal form. :p The wolf demon breaks the shack into peices and inuyasha fights but with no prevail. Miroku tries to use his wind tunnel again but naracu sends out the bees again..shippo starts running away and the episode ends. Next weeks episode is called "Naracu's True Identity"

December 22nd, 2002, 07:00 PM
Yup. That was really funny. Though I also found the thing between Kagome and that guy from her school that likes her thing amusing... but then, I always do. :\
I went to Flushing today (what a nice name  ) and went to a Taiwanese bookstore and found, dun dun dun, Inuyasha manga volumes 1-27, all in Chinese :D But I didn't buy any. Why?
1. It was in the Taiwanese version of Chinese, so MoonShadow will have a tough time recognizing words that do not appear in her Chinese school ciriculum
2. MoonShadow has a bit of trouble reading regular Chinese in the first place
3. MoonShadow probably will not understand what they're saying once they start using vocabulary that I do not recognize (both slang, Taiwanese dialect, and tough phrases)
4. They are already translated into English (not all of them though)
So my mom told me to not to buy a lot, since I might not be able to understand what they're saying, and also because I was about to buy the first volume of Inuyasha, the first volume of Shaman King, and considering a manga title called "Hikaru no Go" in Japanese. They cost $5 each, which was sort of expensive when bought in large amounts..... Yeah, so I decided to wait for Shaman King in Shonen Jump and see how I like it there, read Inuyasha in English, and buy "Hikaru no Go." (Can I read it? Sorta. I can get the gist, but I'm sort of blindly reading. Yeah, its interesting)
Later, we go into the Flushing Mall, and it was really cool there! This is basically the first time I actually appreciate that city. I always thought of it as a place with dirty streets with lots of shops selling Chinese grocery foods. And guess what I found in a MS fan shop? Subtitled Inuyasha DVDs! And does MoonShadow buy them? She wanted to, but she did not! Why? Because her parents objected to it! They were at pretty good prices compared to the Viz prices ($45 for 19-27 eppies I think).
Somehow, I get the feeling that nobody really cares about what I discovered today... Oh well.
Why does being an anime and manga fan have to be so expensive! Argh!

Hey, just as an interesting fact, Inuyasha is called "quan ye cha" in Chinese. Or is it "quanyecha".... Well, I don't know how Chinese pinying (the "alphabet") works when it comes to connecting the pin-ying together, so....
"Quan" means "dog".
"ye cha" can be meant as "bad temper". lol... easy to see. ;) Well, it probably also means demon, which it does in Japanese. Anyway, the phrase has a negative meaning to it.
Yeah... http://web.utk.edu/~bborchar/games/ws_knsn.gif
See those characters on top? The first one on the left is "quan", the second is "ye" (which also means night), and the last is "cha".

Gundam Seed and Macross 7 have not yet been secured for domestic release. So, in short, you're probably dealing with a bootlegger.
I wonder if they're going to show the Inuyasha movies on the big screens....
I doubt it. Outside of the Miyazaki films and Pokémon ones, the only real anime films to get theatrical releases in recent years have been Akira, Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door, and, I believe, Metropolis. Even then, though, they've only been in small, art house type theatres or in major cities like NYC or LA. Most of those movies had some sort of universal-- or at least high production value-- appeal to garner some sort of profit. Inuyasha is very niche.
Plus, if a DBZ film didn't make it to the big screen as part of their marketing frenzy, I doubt Inuyasha would. But, that's just my opinion and I could be proven wrong. ;)

What's wrong with bootleggers? I think they actually help promote the movie. Owners should be flattered that people are copying their work. Unless the bootleggers are only bootlegging for money and not for the love of the movie or show.
I have a Japanese dictionary and here are some words I found out:
Shippo means tail
Inu means dog
and I couldn't find what Yasha means.
MoonShadow

yasha in Japanese means "demon". Some fan sites have translations of the names. Naruko means a word that starts with "h", and that flea demon's name means "protecter".

Well, first of all, you shouldn't be reading the GW manga (at least not that one). ;) Downright horrible translation (they even went so far as to have a character address Trowa as "Noin"). The G Gundam/Gundam Wing strips in the back were the only redeeming qualities of the book.
That said, it was released by Mixx/Tokyo Pop. Unless I'm mistaken, Inuyasha is handled by Viz, who has been, pretty regularly, releasing their manga in an unflipped format. So, it's worth looking into before writing off completely.
What channel? Must... know....
Last I checked, Princess Mononoke was airing on The Action Channel, part of the Starz! movie channel package. TAC frequently airs uncut anime series/movies, such as Macross Plus, X: The Movie, Gunsmith Cats, etc. I'd assume that's the channel she's referring to.

Amazing. ;)
Bootlegging is wrong, flat out, not to mention illegal. Those series are the property of the production company, which retains the right to license it out to foreign companies for a share of the profits. It's how they keep from going under. Bootlegging damages the market, though, especially advance bootlegging, as it satisfies an otherwise (theoretical) frenzied demand. Say you buy Inuyasha bootleg, as does everyone else. Those profits and sales figures never make it back to the production company, so while the show would have many fans, to the production house it would be a commercial flop. They'd write off the show and wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole-- which means no more movies, no more mangas, no more possible series, nothing. The show has been effectively killed and everyone who bought it bootleg flipped the switch of the electric chair. How does that help it?
Or, to use a different analogy-- say you're a writer. You've just written a novel and got it published. It hits the stands at $24, a price needed for the book to first break even and then make a profit. You're hinging your livelihood on that novel, on it being a success. Unless it is, the book company won't contract you for more books, you won't be able to pay the rent, and you'll have to get a "real job". You're not worried, though, because the book is a critical success. But, along comes the bootleggers who take your book, without permission and without paying you, and print it for $4 a copy. Everyone curious about the book decides it's safer to invest $4 than $24, so they buy the bootleg. Your book is a hit among the fans. But, because the legal copies didn't sell, your publisher lost money, you didn't get a dime, and you're forced out of the business. All those people who loved your book won't get another one. How did bootlegging help you?
There is no in-between here. There is no "good" bootlegging and "bad" bootlegging. When you start assigning degrees of "wrongness" to certain actions, it's no different than saying a person who murders one person isn't as bad as somebody who murders two people. Both actions are wrong and morally reprehensible.
In any case, somebody doesn't run a store (re: the store MoonShadow mentioned) unless that's their livelihood, which in turn means they'd have to profit from it. Which rules out their doing it for "a love of the show". So, even by your definition they're "bad" bootleggers.

But there are plenty of people who have morals and buy the official stuff. Well, at least I think there are plenty of people with morals. The bootlegged stuff is actually pretty bad because of the picture and audio quality.
I think people should care more about their product rather than the money. But we all know that socialism didn't work 'cause people are just too greedy.

But there are plenty of people who have morals and buy the official stuff.
You're trying to rationalize it. Do you know how many people justify things with "somebody else will do it, so I don't have to"? They refuse to take the responsibility onto themselves ("it's not their fault") and would rather have immediate gratification instead of doing the right thing in the long run. Do you think you're the only person with the mindset, "I don't have to buy the legal version because others will"? If you put all of those people together you'd have a pretty sizable crowd, which has a pretty noticeable effect on the market. You're simply trying to assuage a guilty conscience.
I think people should care more about their product rather than the money.
Why should they listen to you when your own words belie that thought, Rollo? The only advantage bootlegs have over the legitimate version is that they're cheaper, so by arguing for bootlegs you're saying you're in favor of saving a few bucks over anything else. That does not speak of a love of the product. In actuality, you're saying the product isn't good enough to warrant your time or the money it would take to pay full price.

*nod nod* thats the channel

I'm not saying that I buy bootlegs. I personally don't because the quality is abysmal and it's not worth the 2 bucks that they sell it for.

Because they are a two-edged sword. I just like the fact that some people love the show enough to copy a few episodes and send it to their friends and relatives. However, most people bootleg for the money.

That's hardly what we were talking about, Rollo. John Doe copying a tape he recorded off of TV and giving it to people he personally knows for no charge isn't exactly the same as somebody setting up a store and selling unlicensed merchandise for a profit, now, is it?

You'll find that, save in rare cases (Robotech, Cardcaptors, and the original Mobile Suit Gundam, for example), most anime DVDs include both a dub and sub track. One of the advantages of the medium.

And unless TV guide has some screwups on it, I searched for Trigun on it two days ago, and no results turned up for it.....
Martin the Warrior

The best way is to only deal with reputable stores-- Suncoast, Sam Goody, or Best Buy are all good places to buy anime. Online, Amazon.com has a fairly wide selection, as well. Another good indicator is the price-- save in rare cases, if you're paying less than $25-$30 for an anime DVD, you're getting a bootleg (now, granted, there are some series that have DVDs available for anywhere from $10 to $15, but you'll find that the majority of anime discs cost $30).
It helps to research what it is you intend to buy by searching either Amazon's, Suncoast's, or another reputable anime dealer's online catalog. If they don't have a title listed (as is the case with Macross 7 and Gundam Seed), then there is no legitimate release. Any store offering those shows on DVD would be doing so illegally-- they wouldn't be imports as Japanese DVDs won't work on US players.
Caveat emptor.
And unless TV guide has some screwups on it, I searched for Trigun on it two days ago, and no results turned up for it.....
Last I heard, Trigun had not been given an airdate (nor had Reign). Only Lupin III will be making its AS debut this month (outside of Char's Counterattack tomorrow night-- a very good movie, BTW, although if you hate Gundam it probably won't change your opinion of it).

Yes. It'll be nice to see Lupin III, but I can't say I'll be tuning in for much else (or at all if the series doesn't wind up catching my interest). As broadcast anime goes, it's all a waiting game until Zeta Gundam hits the air. ;)
MoonShadow
That would be for a single DVD right?
Yep.
Eh, how about a Chinese DVD player.
Depends entirely on whether or not China and Japan share the same DVD Region (probably). That wasn't my point, though-- as imported DVDs could not be played by the general public (read: the people who would just walk into the store off the street), it doesn't make it cost effective to stock them in bulk. Therefore, either that store has very bad business sense or they're bootlegs.
I'll be taping Char's Counterattack, and saving it for a day when I actually have time to watch it.... Next week will be busy.
I have no doubt many casual Gundam fans will be very confused from the get-go, especially as the broadcast of MSG never got around to explaining Newtypes (and because Zeta Gundam and ZZ Gundam haven't aired). Opening Char's Counterattack in the middle of an asteroid-drop probably didn't help things, either. Nevertheless, it really is a great movie with plenty of things to keep Gundam fans happy. The opening works much better the second time around, when you don't go in feeling like you're missing something.

That's weird. CN launched a nation-wide ad campaign in '97/'98 where things switched to being an hour AFTER EST/PST in the Mountain timezone. So, while something would air at 12:00 midnight in Eastern and Pacific, it would be at 11:00 PM Central and 1:00 AM Mountain.
Going by CN.com's schedule, Lupin will air at: Eastern - 12:00 midnight, Central - 11:00 PM, Mountain - 1:00 AM, Pacific - 12:00 midnight
Times would only be different in Pacific/Mountain if you had a satellite giving you an East coast feed rather than West coast.
i accidently put in the 2 hour tape instead of the 6 hour so it didn't tape all of the movie. i want to see the end
Chan killed Quess, so Hathaway freaked out and killed Chan which set off the psycommu which convinced all the Feddie forces in space to converge on Axis. Amuro and Char fought, whined about Lalah, Char tried to justify himself while Amuro rebutted. Bright's team took out the engines of Axis but too late. Half of it drifted off into space while the other moved towards Earth. Then Char got beaten and Amuro grabbed his escape pod, smashing it into the piece of Axis falling to Earth. He then tried to stop the descent with the Nu Gundam's engines. That wasn't enough, so a crippled Char taunted Amuro about it. Then all the Feddie suits show up and join Amuro to stop the descent of Axis, even the Neo Zeon guys quit fighting and help out. One by one those suits explode since they don't have the Gundam's heat shielding. Eventually it's back to just Amuro with Char embedded into the rock. Then the Newtype magic rears its head and Axis is pushed back out into space. The Earth is saved. The end. (it literally ends at that point.)
At least, that's how I remember it ending but I haven't seen it in a few months.

As I understand it, yes, it is a comedy. Which doesn't necessarily mean anything, as there are plenty of comedy anime series that have a sizable amount of action (Tenchi Muyo! and Dragon Ball among them).

Some of that is true, some of that isn't. You can't really get a feel for what the series is with one episode alone. What starts out as a quirky comedy gets very serious roughly halfway through.
And what series that has a hero who refuses to kill doesn't explore the possibility of their being forced to? Even Superman has executed three criminals.
In any case, everyone should enjoy Trigun. It far outstrips Inuyasha and most Adult Swim shows, save Bebop.

Content yourself with Lupin III and Reign in the meantime. Who knows, you might wind up liking them (although I have the sneaking suspicion you don't like Lupin). ;) There's always Giant Robo Week at the end of the month or .hack//SIGN on Saturdays.

I find it strangely amusing how impatient anime fans (in general) have become.

How wrong you are, Martin. How wrong you are. Although I've never actually seen an episode, the commercials make it seem like a good show. My friend also told me that it was pretty funny. I would tape it, but I don't have too many tapes left and the rest are devoted to Inuyasha, Undergrads, and some movies.
And I am not an anime fan, technically. The only anime I like is Inu Yasha. I lost interests in all other animes when I was about a year old.

It's impossible for me to be "wrong" when you, yourself, don't know if you like it, Rollo. My statement was simply premature, it seems. ;) Still... aspects you've criticized past anime series for are present in Lupin. I'd be very surprised if you wound up liking the series-- feel free to surprise me. ;)

The only thing I'm looking forward too on Adult Swim is more Inu Yasha episodes.
I hope Undergrads gets to go onto Adult Swim. Finally, the masses can appreciate what a great cartoon it is. Unless, there are a lot of people who stay up past 12:00 a.m. watching Comedy Central.

okay, sounds cool. Maybe i'll tape the first few episodes and if i like it i'll continue. Meanwhile maybe i could find some inuyasha dvds with subtiles and live off of that until it returns on adult swim.

And... I've got GREAT news! Take a look at this (http://schedule.cartoonnetwork.com/servlet/ScheduleServlet?action=viewAll&showID=324233&show=Inuyasha)! Inuyasha's coming back on March 10. ^.^ Cartoon Network had bought up to episode 52, so they definitely are keeping the show on. They're just making way for new shows at the moment, I guess.
Well, I missed last night's episode because my absent-minded dad turned on the already off VCR.... *no comment*
I'll probably taking this time to watch DB and DBZ, along with new YGO eppies on weekends if they have anymore, and .hack//SIGN. Transformers Armada's airing time makes it too hard for me to view or tape, so I'll be just skipping over that show.... I don't think I'll continue regularily watching YuYu Hakusho after this run is over, since I really don't have the time to....
Martin
I find it strangely amusing how impatient anime fans (in general) have become. Well.... *analyses past Anime-related behavior*
Sailor Moon and Pokemon... I was too young to really know anything, but I do remember wishing that there was more SM episodes after they aired the last "Lost Episode".
Cardcaptors... I would really not like to comment on this one due to my disgust on how much they altered the series, even though it was still enjoyable.
As for Inuyasha and YGO... I'm currently [patiently] waiting for KidsWB to announce another release of YGO episodes, as they're nearly finished with the 39 new ones after this Saturday, which probably will take a few months. Same goes for Inuyasha.
Now for YuYu Hakusho... I think they're sort of stretching it... I mean, it's nearly a year since they first aired it... Well... *no comment*
Did anybody here see .hack//SIGN? I had no idea that CN would be airing that until I saw a commercial for it while watching DBZ at the odd moment.... I watched it last Saturday, and enjoyed it, and I loved how the music is so... It's wonderful and gives you the feeling of The World. That's all I have to say. ;b

Moonshadow, that's one of the greatest things that I have ever read. Now I can figure out what episodes I need to tape. I was expecting a long wait, but a month doesn't seem so bad. Oh well, I better just watch all my old Inu Yasha tapes. Or play Yu-Gi-Oh with my friends.

Inuyasha is coming back on march 10th! Omg! thanks so much for the info. Its just a normal break like all anime shows have once or twice every year.
Did anyone watch the inuyasha episode 1 yesterday? I enjoyed it thoroughly. How it starts right with the villagers screaming "INUYASHA" and you see inuyasha in midair breaking out of a net and jumping into the shrine with the shikon no tama and then *dramatic drum roll* kikyo says "Inuyasha" and he gets pinned to a tree...the shikon no tama falls out of his grip and falls right in front of kikyo. Inuyasha is shocked and then goes into deep slumber. Kikyo is mortally wounded and she tells kaede to burn the jewel with her and then she just falls to the ground dead i guess heh (i found that kind of funny...don't know why)
Kagome: "Todo, i don't think we're in tokoyo anymore!"
Kagome: *walks up to inuyasha and starts "touching" his dog ears lol....you just have to see that....and then finnally finishes* "Now that that's out of my system.."
.hack//SIGN has already premired?? oops....I seen the commercial and i so wanted to see it but i forgot the date and time it was coming on X_X
lets see this saturday theres three new yu-gi-oh episodes, number 60,61,62 i do beleive. I've already watched ep 60, its pretty cool except i think pandora wears a really freaky mask X_X. Besides that i can always watch the yu-gi-oh movie or any episode i got taped.
hmm i might tape yu yu hakasho but i've seen all the episodes shown so far now except that episode where theres kurama and the mirror thingy. i agree they do need new episodes...i was so ????ed when they started showing reruns
oh and the next two weeks theres going to be 10 new digimon frontier episodes. ^_^

I've pretty much given up on Armada.
Sailor Moon and Pokemon... I was too young to really know anything, but I do remember wishing that there was more SM episodes after they aired the last "Lost Episode".

Well, some slack should be cut. Voice actors can only do so much and FUNi's are/were occupied finishing up DBZ (I'd say they're done with the show now, at least until they redub the first two seasons) and progressing through DB. I'd expect DB to only have two more seasons, though-- encompassing the Piccolo Daimaou saga and 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai, respectively. FUNi is also busy dubbing DBGT for release this fall, the DBZ movies, the show Fruits Baskets, Blue Gender, and they recently purchased the rights to the One Piece anime (I'd expect to see it on Toonami one of these days). All on top of Yu Yu Hakusho. Unlike other anime companies, which use different VA organizations for different shows, FUNi only has who they, themselves, employ. Those guys need breaks every now and then. ;)

How many episodes worth? It's not so simple as "We've got seven more episodes dubbed, ship 'em to Cartoon Network!" Episodes are delivered in season blocks and it's rare to see CN buy seasons at less than thirty-episodes, unless they're testing a new series out (as was the case with YYH, I assume) or unless a series is only 26-episodes long or less, in which case they buy the whole thing at once.
FUNimation, specifically, seems to favor 30-50 episode seasons.
One Piece is coming to Toonami? YAY!!!!! That's just made my day (well, part of it.)!
As I said, FUNimation bought the rights to the anime. Given that OP is getting exposure in Shonen Jump, that it has a GameCube game on the way, and the FUNimation is rather cushy with CN-- the odds of it coming to the block are extremely high.
However, at this point it's mere conjecture.
Well, did I completely miss the series Gundam Wing... Any chance of them ever rerunning it, since I really want to see it.
In all honesty, I doubt it-- it ran for quite awhile in the first place and they've got newer Gundam series (G Gundam, for instance) to fill out the block and others on the way (Zeta Gundam, although that's more likely on AS). Endless Waltz, the GW OVA/Movie that takes place following the series would most likely air as part of a Toonami movie event, however. I could be proven wrong.
In any case, I'd recommend the DVDs if you'd like to see it. Five episodes per disc is one of the best deals you're likely to find.
Hm... and YGO had even shrewder marketing ploy in my opinion. Robbing little kid's allowances.
Hmm.... nope, I'd still give the nod to .hack. The only way to get the complete story is by buying the four video games, watching the anime, and getting the manga..... that beats out Yu-Gi-Oh! and an optional CCG, in my book. ;)

I wasn't speaking of series quality but of the marketing aspects. ;) To get the full story of .hack, you need to watch the .hack//SIGN anime, play four PS2 .hack video games, and read the .hack//DUSK manga. With Yu-Gi-Oh!, you can choose to either read the manga or watch the anime, you'll get the gist of the story either way, and the CCG is entirely opitional. You don't lose any plot if you don't decide to collect it. So, in terms of marketing ploys, .hack is in a class all its own.
Beelze

"Small kid's"? Based on what I've seen, the demographic for Yu-Gi-Oh! didn't change when it made the jump across the Pacific. ;)

Most fansubbers have a tendency to embellish the Japanese language. I can almost guarantee you that the level of swearing in YGO isn't as high as you think. It's a common practice-- replace something that would be more appropriately translated as "jerk" with something that would most certainly get you banned from this board (;)) and suddenly "They're kiddifying the show!" seems a more legitimate claim. Shows like YGO and DBZ rarely have anything more than a few mild swear words. If the dubs choose a tamer approach, that shouldn't be an issue so long as the appropriate emotion is conveyed.
MoonShadow

In my experience, Japanese releases are comparable to US releases, save in a few rare cases. Personally, I'd recommend buying domestic.
