my favorite is obviously the stoat. Dunno really why, they are just cool, and they always seem to be victimized and theyre not tooo brite.

Pine martens, wildcats, weasels and foxes, in that order.

I think I actually like the rats better. I'm not sure why.

Weasels and ferrets. Weasel's are rarely leaders, and highly underrated in general. In any case, one of the few female non-main character vermin (Tazzin) was a weasel, so that makes them a bit special. As for ferrets, they live in Canada unlike many Redwall animals, so I'm biased towards them a bit.

I like the corsairs. I love the books where the characters go out to sea.

Nope. You might get lucky if you ask a Scribe, though, I guess.

I only remember one wearet being in the series and that one came in Mattimeo as well. ;)
Unless more have popped up in Brock, Tagg, Triss, Loam, Tam, or Rhulain, none of which I've read.
So don't spoil it if it has reared its ugly head again.

Hmm...thus far no one species has gained a major lead in the poll. It seems that our preferences vary widely on the LP.

I like rats, and stoats. Er, by the way, ermine and stoats are the same animal. Ermine refers to the white winter coat.

As for ferrets, they live in Canada unlike many Redwall animals, so I'm biased towards them a bit.
Actually, those would be black-footed ferrets, almost extinct. They don't live anywhere near Britain. The ferrets in Redwall are domestic ferrets, which are descended from polecats. Ferret=/=black-footed ferret.

Of course, not only has BJ always made a distinction between ermine and stoats in his books, almost if they really are two different animals, but also, stoats in his books don't ever change coat colors in winter, and ermine are always white seemingly year-round.

I hope I get to see some authentic Redwall animal species while I'm here in Scotland, like the different-from-American badgers, and otters. I'd probably have to look hard though, in the wooded areas and such. I think I saw an 'edgehog scurry away from me in the grass the other night while I walked down the road from town back to the castle, under the dim light of a lamppost. But I digress.

    Post fifteen. Lucky me.
