when you say "Video games", do you mean you want to play a game on your PC, and record the action?

Free video editing software pretty much does not exist. The stuff is expensive to develop, and not a huge amount of people need it, so they have to charge a whole lot for it. Unless you want to download it illegally, you have to spend a lot money as far as I know. Adobe Premeir Elements is relatively cheap. For $100 its a stripped down and easier to use version of Adobe Premeir Pro, which is $850.
