Cool "Sing a song of seasons...Fires in the Fall!"

Well, here we are, eleven days into the official start of autumn - since it's always such a great season, it seems like it deserves its own thread.

So, how does fall rate in your season preference? What's your favorite thing about it? Get good leaf color displays where you live? Favorite leaf color? Any treasured autumnal activities, such as pumpkin carving or apple-picking? Are you a past master in the art of leafpiles? Etc., etc. <g>

This is definitely my favorite season. The autumn colors (that rich, rich topaz-golden hue...aah ), the crisp air, eating fresh Gala apples (the best!!) by the peck (or any apples...before my dad gave our apple trees the "healthy pruning" from which they've never recovered, we used to get loads... <g>), making leafpiles (when I'm home to do so; my dog is crazy about them <g>), and did I mention the leaf displays? Ah, yes... for a few oh-so-short weeks each year, it's really paradise.

Fall is a beautiful time of the year, though it tajes a while here where I live, for the trees to completely turn their new colors. Right now the trees outside my house have little hints of yellow and red amoungst the green. Once they all turn though, its beauticful. Theres a couple of trees outside my house that are absoultely gorgeuos in the fall.
I think once that happens I'll go leaf collecting or something.

Fall's a lovely season. Some of the trees are still pretty green, just starting to turn, others were a really deep red weeks ago. I mean RED. All the pretty colors, the crispness, ducking season (alright, I don't hunt yet, but I love duck meat), good for painting. Only it's started to get pretty cold recently. It was so warm just days ago...

Ooh! An' lotsa apple pie! I like pie.

The leaves right now are just turning yellow or a dull brown around the edges but the neighbor's tree is dropping them like crazy into our yard. I love the red colored leaves, they're pretty and vibrant. Things i like about this time other than the leaves is deer hunting season (i got a deer tag this year, yayness), halloween, and pumpkin pies. Pumpkin pies are goood. Oh and riding on hay wagons..wait..thats more winterish oriented..ah but still

Autum is my favorite time of the year. Though it's not so glorious where I live since it gets far too cold to fast. At the beggining of September it snowed. Sometimes it even snows on the 4 of July.

But it is pretty here. The leaves are a deep blood red, sunset orange, and bright sun glow yellow. The Autum moon is bright and beautiful, putting a gow of dark blue over the land. And in the morning a calm, soothing mist envelopes the trees. I also can't wait for Halloween, it's one of my most favorite holidays and I'm still dressing up and going trick or treating.

I love everything, except the cold.

As I said in another thread...

Ah... October. The hight of my favorite season, and perhaps my favorite month of all. Without the heat and peskiness that Summer drops on September, and without the dull grayness of November, October shines as the quintessence of fall: a beautiful month with mild whether and a crisp feel in the air. ...and Halloween's in it too! HALLOWEEN RULES THE SCHOOL!

*shivers in cold* 'nough said. I know it'll be a lot worse in the winter, but this cold air mass from Canada is really making me suffer. Leaves still seem to be rather green here though.... *points to trees in backyard* I also hate how days are getting shorter too, as it's all dark and cold when I wake up (making it hard to do so).

The best thing about Autumn here is that all the blackberries on the side of the road ripen, so we can go get all purple.
Aaaaand....that's about it. Most of the trees here are evergreen, so theres barely any display, except in parks and the city where people have planted maples and oaks and all manner of sunset hued weeds. Apart from that, it gets cold, wet and miserable, and I can't wait until Summer because it's still cold wet and miserable even though it's a week or so into Spring and I'm not happy so I'm gonna write the longest sentence I've ever written.

Daylight saving started today, which means Piaras is smiling because the days are getting longer.

Fall is probably my favourite time of year; the colours, the cool weather, candy, rain, etc. I live right at the base of the mountains, so I only have to look out my window to see all the reds, oranges, browns and golds. It looks really awesome. The only thing I can't stand about it is all the pollen and mold in the air. Allergies suck. *Snifflecough*

Yeah the only thing i don't like about fall is the drop of tempature. From over 100 degrees to the mid 50s...
Well now i have a reason to wear my jacket every day so i shouldn't complain.
Who's going trick or treating this year for halloween? I don't know if i am. I might go to a halloween dance/party or go to the haunted forest or something. I'm not sure yet. Or i might just stay home and scare the little trick or treaters when they come out the door by jumping out with a scary mask on. The looks on the little kids face when they're scared is classic Or walk up to one and put a thing in that makes you foam at the mouth. Yeah..either way i'll have fun

    WOOOOOOOOOO!! wool.

I live for autumn!! My children will be named September and Autmun! And then if I have a third it will be named DEATH AND DORMANCY OF THE EARTH! WHEE!!!
FALL is my favorite. BY FAR.
    1. Nature.
    2. My birthday.
    3. Halloween. (The best reason.)
    4. Leaves.
    5. Photography opportunites.
    6. Going into every store and it's decorated for the season and Halloween.
    7. Thanksgiving ain't bad either.
    8. Food typically associated with autumn.
    9. The savory peacefulness, pleasantry, and maturity of the air.

It makes me want to write a poemie.

The season unto which I was born
    Perpetual melancholy sweetness of Nature
    Despondence breeds euphoria
In the temperate souls of forest sleepers.

I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles
In our eyes are mirror images and when
    We kiss they're perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate that God himself
Did make us into corresponding shapes like
    Puzzle pieces from the clay...

They will see us waving from such great
Heights, 'come down now,' they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away,
'Come down now...' but we'll stay...
