Foreshadow

Ohhhhh! Remember in PS or SS(depending on nationality) where they found the dead unicorn? Hagrid said something about the innocent dying. Did that have something to do with Sirius? Was JK already planning on killing him?

It's page 253 SS PB, 184-185 PS Hardback, and I can't find my SS HB right now. Anyway, it's when they first meet the centaurs in the Forbidden Forest.

I'm pretty sure Ronan was referring to the unicorn as the "innocent."

Yes, but JK has before put many foreshadowings. Maybe this is one of them.

No, it's the unicorn.
Spoiler (highlight to read):
Voldemort drank its blood.

I KNOW IT'S ABOUT THE UNICORN.

But what if it's about Sirius, too?

The saying "Always the innocent are the first victims" seems to me like just a wise observation.

For starters, Sirius wasn't really that much of an "innocent" when he died. He was fighting against Voldemort and his followers, and therefore wouldn't be considered an innocent. He was their enemy. Just as an American soldier being killed by a German soldier during WW2 wouldn't be considered an innocent.

The unicorn on the otherhand wasn't against Voldemort, it was merely trying to live its life. That makes the unicorn an innocent.

I don't think in this instance Rowling was referring to anyone but the unicorn and that she was merely trying to add a dramatic "poetic effect" to the unicorn's death.

Okay, I submit.

But, before I go, I'll explain the "innocent" thing.

Sirius=believed to be killer. WAS INNOCENT

Got that off my chest. Bye-Bye

If you're looking at it that way then I'd REALLY have to say Rowling wasn't referring to Sirius.

if you're talking about the bit when ronan said the stuff bout innocents wasn't that refering to lik, people in general? he was helping harry at the time and harry was in some trouble so therefore harry was like the victim like the people who keep getting killed in the books. So isnt jk rowling just mean that more innocents shall die? or is this very obvious?

You might want to see about having that brain exchanged. j/k It's alright, just remember that you learn more from your defeats than your victories.
